North Carolina is Home

Most of our ancestors came here as immigrants, and more recent immigration continues to bring new neighbors to our communities.

Another successful event

Uniting NC hosted an immigrant lunch on Saturday, July 10 in High Point. We felt warmly encouraged by the supportive atmosphere and the enthusiasm for Uniting NC’s mission. Go to our events page for more details.

Are you a member of a group that might want to learn more about Uniting NC’s work? We can come make a brief presentation about who we are, or we can collaborate with you on a larger event such as a film screening, book discussion or dialogue session. Please contact us.

New video profile: Saleem

We just finished work on the latest in a series of video profiles that tell the stories of immigrants in North Carolina. Our newest may challenge your perception of what it means to be from a family of immigrants. Watch it below, or go to the profiles page to see all our interviews.

Check out our new blog

Uniting NC has jumped on the bandwagon and started its very own blog. We’ll use it to keep you updated on immigration news and to let you know what we’re working on. But we need you to make it successful.

Please become a regular reader and commenter. And if you “Like” us on Facebook, we’ll let you know whenever it is updated. Let’s work together to keep North Carolina a place that respects all people.

Discussing Immigration in NC: We Need Your Help!

On April 6, Uniting NC hosted a dinner conversation in Raleigh about immigration in our community.

Business owners, law enforcement officials, lawyers, religious and civic leaders and students — including both immigrants and native North Carolinians — shared their perspectives and their own immigration stories. The event renewed our belief that we can foster constructive, respectful discussion about immigration in North Carolina, and that there is a lot more that unites us than divides us.

We would like to hold many more dialogue sessions like this one, but we need your help. Are you a member of a book club, civic group, church or any other organization that is interested in having a discussion about immigration? If so, please let us know.

Our New Director

Uniting NC is pleased to announce that Kristin Collins is our new director.  Kristin joins us after more than a decade as a journalist at the Raleigh News & Observer, where she covered many topics including immigration.  You can read more about Kristin and get her contact information here.

Over the last couple months, we’ve been working hard to pull together a public service announcement featuring folks who have come to North Carolina from all around the world.  Here’s what we’ve got so far.  Please take a look, and let us know what you think, especially if you have any ideas for music from local artists who would be willing to let us use one of their songs in the video!
